Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on New Orleans in 2005. This catastrophic event left New Orleans with severe destruction and a significant death toll. New Orleans had to work hard to return its vibrant city to normalcy. That said, it doesn’t take more than a short drive from the French Quarter to realize that parts of New Orleans have not yet benefitted from the restoration efforts which have been on-going for the past several years. Much of what has been done to rebuild New Orleans has come from volunteer groups and committed dedicated organizations from outside Louisiana. In conjunction with the DRI International Certified Professionals Conference in May 2012, the Disaster Recovery International Foundation wants to give back to New Orleans and help, in small part, to rebuild and revitalize this city which is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. ^ Back to top |
